I really don’t have any reason to post this other than I saw it again today and I really love it. I know that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, but you have to give the guy credit anyway – it’s a great piece of film making.

I saw this again last night and man, it’s still the funniest movie I’ve seen in years.

“Dude, would you please put some pants on?! I find it strange that I have to ask twice.”

Anyway, now that the excuse is out of the way, here’s another youtube video and this one is dedicated to dear old Dad. He and I have been in love with WW2 movies for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up he and I would spend Saturday afternoons watching Henry Fonda or John Wayne or Telly Savalas whoop up on the original Axis while we worked around the house. I swear, I could see Midway a million times in my life and it won’t ever get old.

Then came Band of Brothers, and even though I had moved out by then we both watched it and still talk about it all the time (I’m not sure if my kid brother has seen it yet, but if not pops will make sure that happens soon enough). And I’ve been teasing the old man with rumors of a version of BoB about the Pacific since I first heard about it a year or so ago, but he always seemed skeptical.

The past eight days have been crazier than a sack of weasels, what with that 71 hour road trip to Denver and back (and trying to get my sleep schedule back to normal afterwards), work has been absolutely nuts (what with the Econopocalypse and all), The Benders had their final game of the season this week (we got trounced 2-6 but we had fun and looked good doing it), and finally, I hate to admit this, but I’ve been using any free time I have for writing to get the Columbus Offside back to a reputable place in the blogosphere.

I know, hard life, right?

I must admit, I’ve been having a lot of fun. But it’s not like I’ve been living in a cave either. I’ve been keeping an eye on the news. Like Slick Willy going to North Korea and convincing Kim Jong Ill to release a couple of female journalists. The potential for jokes here is huge, but I think Jon Stewart beat me to them all so I’ll skip it.

I think I heard somewhere that Billy Mays’ autopsy revealed cocaine use. Not to be too callous here, but come on, is anyone really surprised? All you have to do is watch the Slap Chop Rap to realize that these guys are all hopped up on the Bolivian Marching Powder.

At the forefront of my attention (yes, in front of The Crew) this weekend was the Sox/Yanks series. But, alas, it wasn’t really worth any attention since my Sawx got swept oin the Bronx and are now 6.5 games behind in the AL East and tied with Texas for the Wild Card. This is where I link to the Wall Street Journal Article that says the Yankees are still annoying. If the WSJ says it it must be true, right?

At least my other favorite sports team is tearing it up like piranha’s going at a cow. If I could just get Houston to stop winning we could hold onto first place in the league.
