It’s not that I don’t have any ideas, it’s just that I don’t have the time to put fingers to keyboard and deliver them to you. But I’m going to deliver my thoughts and observations to the world on Saturday. I know, I know – you’re waiting with baited breath, aren’t you…

In the meantime, as a teaser, I give you this: How to Behave: New Rules for Highly Evolved Humans from Wired.com. After scanning through a few of these for a few minutes earlier, it occurred to be that we, as a species, must get these rules in front of as many people as we can. Everyone is guilty of at least one transgression, and if we all study up a little bit society as a whole would benefit greatly.

I’ll go ahead and point out this one, both for its comedic value and because, well, its the gash-darn truth (cough cough DAD). John Wayne looked good with a holster, you don’t (I kid! I kid!).

This Thursday marks the 40 year anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve been fascinated with spaceflight ever since I can remember, and Apollo 11 was the pinnacle of exploration for mankind. Nothing before, or since, has had such a lasting impact on society, or sparked the curiosity and imagination of as many people as the Apollo project. Apollo 11 was the culmination of a nearly decade-long endeavor that will probably never be matched in scope. Nor will anything, save for maybe a manned mission to mars, capture the public’s attention the way the first moonshot did.

Way back when, my grandpa was on the team at Battelle – here in Columbus – that developed the solid rocket fuel for the Apollo spacecraft. People from every corner of the country made contributions to the project and everyone had a vested interest. Ask anyone that’s old enough and they can tell you exactly where they were when the Eagle landed.

To commemorate that historic mission, the John F. Kennedy Library has launched We Choose the Moon, an interactive website where we can follow the mission in “real-time.” The site will use Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and desktop widgets to allow you to follow the whole endeavor like it happened in 1969, minute by minute.but this time we’ll have access to a lot more details than the public did back them. There is audio from mission control and the cockpit as well as photos and videos showing every aspect of the Apollo 11 mission. There are even Tweets from the astronauts.

This may be as close as I get to following a mission to the Moon in my lifetime.

But, it was all part of a Father’s Day publicity thing, and he Twittered it, so I guess its ok. But still…

The RIAA strikes back. To the tune of $1.92 million. Thanks, Metallica. If not for you guys, we’d all still be getting singles for free and loving every minute of it. But no, you and the RIAA had to crash the Napster party. But me and my ipod still think Shawn Fanning won.

Anyway, here’s a list of some things that have drawn my (somewhat limited) attention since June 1st:

The government (read: taxpayers) now own a car company. And, as usual, Michael Moore has an opinion. And 25% of it almost makes sense.

Know what I think? I think that we, as taxpayer-owners, should get a say in the operations and reinvention of GM. They have this fancy new website where we could have forums and discussions and votes and, gasp, a say in how our money is spent. Imagine that: having a voice in the “reinvention” of this old-school corporate behemoth. There are some (read: the Executive and Legislative branches) who think that Americans are less than smart, but let us have a shot. We can’t do any worse than a long string of CEO’s, can we? The technology is here, the interest is there (tell me how many NASCAR lovers wouldn’t kill for a say in this), and the need is there.

This theory, called Crowdsourcing, has actually been done before, succesfully, in sports and relies on the wisdom of crowds. Sure, this plan has its flaws, but again, we can’t do much worse than whats already been done, right? So, c’mon all you fat cats in Washington, let the people have a say! I mean, if we can’t have a say in government can we at least control our own corporations?

Next there’s Meghan McCain (yes, of that McCain family). I discovered her a few months ago during the campaign and I had forgotten all about her until today when I happened upon something that cited something that she said and I was like “Hey! I remember her, she’s pretty cool, what’s she up to these days?” So I googled her and read a couple of blog posts and hit me: I kinda dig this chick.

And then I followed a link over to something called The Daily Beast and then after 5 minutes replaced TPM with it in my bookmarks. I like it because it’s got a more conservative voice (like me) but its not stuffy and holier-than-though (like my parents) and it’s, well, cool. Kind of like a one stop shop for the tech generation of conservatism. They have contributors from all schools of thought, and cover more than just what’s up on Capitol Hill. Right up my alley seeing as I’m young, I’m hip (depending on who you ask), and I’m not a liberal. I have some liberal views, but I’m most definitely not a Democrat. But I wouldn’t classify myself as Republican either. But i’m not going to get into that right now…

Oh, and this McCain chick, she’s pretty cute. Here’s hoping that she’s not the only one of her type out there. (I’m currently taking applications for a neo-conservative with a non-medical degree, who isn’t afraid of corporations, sports, pickup trucks, or guys who wear boots and doesn’t mind to sepnd 6:730 every night watching the news and Jeopardy! while eating dinner)
