Team Conan
As all this drama between Conan and Leno heats up, I just can’t help myself but to weigh in and remind the NBC execs of this one little thing: Conan is funny, Leno is not.
Our parents like Leno better because our parents don’t get most of Conan’s jokes. Our parents also go to bed at 11:30.
Leno was cool 15 years ago. So was Windows 95.
I respectfully ask NBC chief Jeff Zucker this question: If your boss gave you a new job, and you stunk the place up with it, nearly killing most of the company’s other products in the process, would you get fired or would you get your old job back?
This is basically what’s going on with Jay Leno. He agreed six years ago to step down from The Tonight Show in 2009, but then he decided he didn’t want to quit TV so NBC gave him a new gig. It failed. Fire Leno, he’s the guy who sucked at his job. Don’t punish Conan and his fans for what Jay did wrong.
Conan, to his credit, is playing the entire thing super-cool because he knows that he’s right and the network is wrong. I just hope the network figures it out soon, too.
