Hate Me If You Will

July 7, 2009

Ok, so by now we all know that that Michael Jackson has passed away. And also by now, we’re all pretty tired of hearing Michael Jackson’s hits on the radio (and everywhere else). So, with apologies to no one, I post this. Because it is the only time I can remember seeing Jacko perform a song live on stage. And also because, for my entire career in retail, when the store was slow or the part-timers needed a laugh, I would try my best to do the sideways moonwalk thing he does in this video. I never got it, though I came close, and the kids always had a good laugh. Of course it didn’t hurt that while the boss was making a fool of himself trying to moonwalk, they were jamming to one of the greatest beats of all time. Hands down. Don’t tell me it doesn’t get to you.

This will always be the only track by the King of Pop that doesn’t make me lunge to change the song. I love Billie Jean – and I will dance, on the floor, in the round.
